CJ Strawn

C.J. StrawnCalbert Strawn, Jr. (C.J.) has been training martial arts for over thirty years, and teaching for more than twenty years. He began his training as a young boy at a Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do school in northern Virginia and trained in various disciplines ever since.

As an instructor, C.J. tries to emphasize technical detail, realism in self-defense, and a conceptual understanding of the arts. Over the years, C.J. has taught a wide array of individuals including military and law enforcement personnel as well as everyday citizens seeking realistic self-defense and personal development.

C.J. has been fortunate enough to have trained directly with some of the best martial artists in the world including Carl and Allain Atienza, Dan Inosanto, Eddie Camden, Helio Gracie, Francis Fong, Pedro Sauer, Helio “Soneca” Moreira, Chai Sursuite, as well as many others. As a life long martial artist, C.J. not only believes in the need of everyone to have a basic ability to defend themselves, but he also believes martial arts training to be a physical path to overall self improvement.

Currently, C.J. holds instructor certifications in multiple arts including Wing Chun Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Atienza Kali (blade) and Atienza Eskrima (stick), Inosanto Blend Kali, and Bruce Lee’s Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do.

CJ has trained with Stevie Broughman since before Striker. He is one of our Instructors that has a vast knowledge in Martial Arts and its concepts as well as the anatomy and Personal Training. CJ is one of the friendliest people at Striker and welcomes questions! CJ’s skills are unlimited. Take one of his classes and see for yourself!
